Hand-Form

All my pieces begin on the potters wheel. Some are altered at that point before they are removed. Hand sculpting is different for each collection, but all objects go through some degree of handwork before the surface design begins.

Carve

Carving is my guilty pleasure. There is nothing more satisfying than innovating new spaces for the glaze to play. Carving instantly makes each piece one of a kind, as I often design impromptu with my signature motifs.

Glaze

Glazing is the last process the pots go through. Each collection has its own signature glaze set, but sometimes, unique selections can be found. All of the glazes are formulated to be dishwasher and food safe, as well as, microwavable.

Dan Walker

I am blessed to be well enough to put in the work; to make good on my gift of patience and persistence. I have been blessed with incredible balance in my life which offers me the headspace to build on my ambitions. I ride the wave of drive and determination that is only reciprocated with every creation. It’s so liberating to make beautiful things. I have never sat down and developed a conceptual plan- each visual is born through trial and repetition. Past experiences at work, generating a storehouse of images that make up my influences and attractions. Beyond that, I believe I must naturally allow styles and processes to develop. They seem to resist being artificially contrived, but then again, nothing special has ever been created through plans. The truely special things happen when plans are allowed to modify, mature and take a path you are hopefully willing to follow. I am reminded that no matter how satifying it is now, the most meaningful and representative artwork is always what is yet to be made. Fortunately, I have been with clay long enough to not let my abilities be a restriction to what I want to do. On the contrary, after two decades, my profiecency has become an asset. Through teaching I have been able to share this with kids and adults- and through that sharing I absorb a lifetime of motivation. I often think of myself as a passenger to my creative side- I can’t wait to see where it takes me next…
