The latest from the shop…
My current collection is in porcelain clay. It is heavy on alterations and carving to create surfaces that allow my glazes to play within the spaces I create. I enjoy the playfulness of lines- they are fundamental and simple- something in our being that we instantly relate to. A common bond between all historical cultures have been the desire to express ourselves in image and design. In fact, every culture you care to mention can be defined by stylistic line: Egyptian hieroglyphs, Viking rune, Roman spirals or Native American picture writing to name few. As my creations evolve, I sense a path that is more “historical” rather than modern. I intend to move into a presence that is initially understated, yet demands the space it occupies.
In support of this intent, my glazes are formulated in my studio. Each one tested by itself and with others to create a layered collage of colors and textures that dance with gravity. In the end, Line, form, volume, and texture all combine to create an experience of partnering with the artist to redefine beauty.
